During the summer, we run Foiling Fridays – this session aims to meet a few different needs depending on the conditions and who turns up.
Learners
It can be a great time to come and grab a windSUP and a wing and head out to practice low-riding/taxiing around and get your wing handling sorted.
As someone who is managing sustained flights and able to hold position or make ground upwind, it can be a great place to come and practice, knowing that there is a safetyboat on the water. Please note, if you are wanting us to keep an eye on you, you will need to “Check-Out” onto the water and “Check-In” when you are off the water.
Wingfoil Racing
With the Foil Drive Wingfoil Regatta scheduled for March 2026, we’re also hoping to ramp up the racing scene to get people frothing for the event. This will be very much entry-level and open to anyone who can make consistent gybes and foil upwind and downwind. As this develops, we’ll need volunteers to assist with running this racing and providing safety cover.
Social
We also open the bar at the Club and have a social afterwards – a great way to debrief the session on the water, and a great way to start the weekend! Even if winging at other locations, Members and their guests are welcome to come and have a catch-up at the Club from ~6-8pm
For our first session in 2025, Stuart Whitehouse (Nelson Harbourmaster) will be coming along on Friday 31st October to chat about the harbour priority, avoiding shipping and ensuring the safety of everyone.
