Our Clean Club story started with one of our young sailors, Freya High (pictured on a subsequent Blake Inspire trip to the sub-Antarctic) being accepted onto the Yachting New Zealand Blake Inspire for Sailors programme in May 2022.
After an amazing experience on the trip, Freya became our first Clean Club rep at the club’s Annual General Meeting. Supported by vice commodore Sandra Williams, club manager Tim Fraser-Harris and others, Freya helped to raise awareness of environmental issues at the club’s decision making table, and was instrumental in achieving 2 star recognition on the YNZ Clean Club Programme.
With Freya leaving to go to university, we are delighted to welcome the expertise of Julie Newell into the Clean Club Representative role on the administration committee for the 2023-24 season.
