Community and whānau events are a huge part of the Aurora Lounge calendar. The versatile waterfront venue is used for everything from birthday parties (including 21sts), to sports dinners, to weddings, retirement lunches, and celebrations of life, funerals or memorials.
Anyone with a connection to the moana will be right at home, with the stunning views over the Cut and the Nelson Harbour.
We run Club and public events like the ETNZ Fan Zone in 2021 (pictured), and we’re also delighted to host regular community users like The Haven Choir and Julie Stephens Yoga.
Birthday Parties
Celebrate your birthday in style at this stunning party venue available for hire. We’ve had anything from 16ths through to 80ths!
You can hire the Aurora Lounge as a ‘bare venue’ or engage Nourish Catering to look after all the details.
Apart from the location and views, a key selling point is that it is a BYO venue, and you can arrange your own drinks for birthday parties and other private events. Or, if you’d prefer a cash bar, just get in touch with Shelley at Nelson Venues & Events. They are very familiar with the venue and can take care of arranging a special licence, stocking and staffing the bar so that you can focus on enjoying your event!
Celebrations of Life, Memorials, Funerals
We are always honoured when a family chooses to celebrate the life of a loved one in the Aurora Lounge. For anyone with a connection to the moana, it is a truly fitting venue to say your final farewells.
Memorials, funerals, or celebrations of life are community and whānau events that need to come together easily and painlessly; often in a short amount of time.
We aim to help wherever possible to make it an easy process and we have a special venue hire rate for these events, with as much flexibility on hire periods as we can give.
