A corporate event venue with one of the most spectacular backdrops in the region; the Aurora Lounge is versatile, spacious, and right over the moana. The balcony takes in the famous Nelson sunshine and offers views from Tahunanui Beach in the south to the iconic Lighthouse in the north.
It is an inspirational setting to showcase the Nelson waterfront to visiting delegates for an off-site dinner, or for hosting canapés & drinks functions as part of a larger conference in the region.
The venue is hired unlicensed, so can accommodate BYO alcohol for private events, and offers competitive pricing midweek and for Friday evenings.
One of Nelson’s finest catering teams, Nourish Catering, serve up creative, wholesome and delectable treats from their on-site kitchen. The team can also offer additional services to facilitate and easy ‘walk in, walk out’ function.
Conferences & Large Meetings
With an iconic waterfront location, a well equipped facility and excellent on-site catering, the Aurora Lounge is a fantastic venue for smaller conferences, an organisation’s AGM, and/or larger meetings.
The venue is well equipped with both rectangular and round table options.
96 chairs are included, but additional seating can be hired-in to accommodate up to 150 people seated.

The Aurora Lounge at Nelson Yacht Club is situated between the city and the airport and with public parking nearby and good public transport links. This makes it an ideal venue for both local and visiting organisations.
If you’ve got an eye for the details, you can book a bare venue hire and organise anything else yourself. However, Chanté and the team at Nourish Catering can look after all the details if you’d prefer a more ‘hands off’ tailored event.
Workshops & Smaller Meetings
At >250m² the Aurora Lounge is a large venue. However, it can easily be set up for smaller meetings and workshops. We’ve hosted regular teacher training workshops, Harbour Safety Group meetings, Trade roadshows, Environment Court mediations and more…
The new room divider can create breakout space, and the Committee Room can be made available for additional private space.
We also offer some pricing flexibility for smaller groups, so do get in touch.
Christmas Parties & End of Year Functions
Christmas parties and end of year functions are perfectly suited to this stunning waterfront venue.

As an unlicensed venue, you are able to organise BYO drinks for private functions.
However, if you’d prefer a cash bar, we recommend engaging Nelson Venues & Events to look after the Special Alcohol Licence and stock and staff the bar for you. They are very familiar with the venue, and love working here.
