A waterfront wedding venue with one of the most spectacular backdrops in the region; the Aurora Lounge at Nelson Yacht Club is versatile, spacious, and right over the moana. The balcony takes in the famous Nelson sunshine and offers views from Tahunanui Beach in the south to the iconic Nelson Lighthouse in the north.
The venue is hired unlicensed, so can accommodate a BYO bar. It offers generous hire periods such as the ‘Big Weekend’ – 48hr hire over the weekend, to take the stress out of setting up and packing down.

The Big Weekend
A 48 hr hire period over the weekend, and flexible start/finish times. You can take your time with setting up, have a team come back the following day to clear up, or even host a brunch the following morning. The extended hire period gives you options.
The 2026-27 season cost is $1800 incl. GST.
Our ‘bare-venue’ price includes:
- 96 padded chairs
- 13x 8-10 seater ROUND tables
- 12x 6 seater RECTANGULAR tables
For weddings up to 96 people, you’ll just need to arrange chair coverings, tablecloths, and all your creative styling elements to bring your own personality to the venue and your big day.
Larger weddings, of up to 140 people, will involve hiring in extra chairs.

Affordable Wedding Venue Hire
Finding an affordable wedding venue that will add that WOW factor to your celebrations is certainly a challenge. The Aurora Lounge can also be hired for just the Saturday. Fridays and Sundays are even more affordable, and we offer a 33% discount for Saturday or Big Weekend hires over the months of May-September.
